GoHealth is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to become part of our team. We produce a lot of data every day, and we need you to help us build systems that can process that data, providing every part of our business the data it needs to get their job done.

You will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of its various batch and streaming data pipelines. We are seeking candidate who has a strong software development background and experience with BigData frameworks/projects, data streaming, batch processing. In this role, you will work with other members of Engineering, Product and Project Management, and various business groups to ensure timely availability of usable data to all parts of the business that need it. You will primarily report to your Technical Lead.

Possibility of working remote (only in Slovakia)/on-site in our Bratislava or Košice office.

Salary

from 3 500 EUR/month

This is a legal monthly minimum required to be stated by the Slovak law. Offered salary varies based on relevant experience and skills. Plus: Annual Salary Bonus based on individual & company performance.

Your role

You will

Design, develop and deploy batch and streaming data pipelines.
Design and build replacement ETL system onto S3 + RedShift + AWS Glue + DBT + Astronomer (greenfield development).
Maintain legacy ETL system built on SqlServer + SSIS + Airflow until it is retired.
Monitor and ensure operational stability of data pipelines.
Create and maintain documentation of the technical detail design, operational support and maintenance procedures for all data pipelines.
Ensure data quality and compliance with development, architecture, reporting, and regulatory standards throughout entire data pipeline.
Collaborate with the rest of the Engineering Team, subject matter experts and department leaders to understand, analyze, build and deliver new data-related processes and/or reports.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience required.
6+ years of experience in the design and development of data pipelines and tasks.
Strong analytical and problem solving ability with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting performance issues and fine tuning queries.
Experience extracting data from relational and document databases.
Experience consuming data over HTTP and in formats such as HTML, XML, and JSON.
Knowledge of and experience with a version control system (such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, etc).
Proficiency in Java, Python, C# or C++ programming languages.
Familiarity with data warehousing platforms, such as Redshift, Snowflake, SQL Server, etc.
Written and spoken communication skills in English (B2 category).

With a basic knowledge of OOP, scripting language, relational databases and really good understanding of programming logic, your goal is mainly to add new features into existing projects and work on support tickets in order to fix possible issues.

With an in-depth knowledge of OOP and scripting language and good understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, you are more independent and able to work in new small projects. At this time, you will also be helping to review the code base of your team.

With an expert knowledge of OOP and scripting languages and a solid knowledge in code time/space complexity, your goal is to improve our code base and guide the rest of the team to make sure they are all following the best patterns. You definitely know how and when to use relational databases, NoSQL, columnar and memory databases. You are bringing new ideas to the table and working together with the leads to execute large-scale designed projects.
